Description
This is a Citroen special based on 2CV running gear, with a bespoke chassis and body (designed by Richard Oakes). Only 68 were produced, making this a very rare and head turning car. It's been built to a very high standard by my dad who was a mechanical engineer and properly registered as a Blackjack Avion in 2000, with a nice age related plate from the donor car. The speedo is from the donor 2cv and reads just over 600 miles, however, the car has done less than 20, 000 miles since the build. The low mileage shown is due to the speedo going past the 100k miles point but the car has only done 20k miles; look at the MOT history on the GOV website and I also have the registration documentation papers that proves the mileage. There is also a spare speedo with just over 20k miles on it, if you wish to fit it.
Prior to putting the car on the road, my dad refurbished everything , including rebuilding the engine(later and higher power 602cc) and gearbox, which are still in very good condition.
The bodywork and chassis are also in very good condition; there are just a few stone chips here and there but it doesn't detract from the overall look. It has a new aluminium tank ( directly replacing the fibreglass original one, that can be problematic for leaks) , Lumenition electronic ignition, a detachable perspex windscreen (I'm 6'2" and the airflow is over my head) , full tonneau and side covers, rare spare wheel, detachable steering wheel, pannier mounts, luggage rack and 12v aux socket . So it is set-up for longer trips.
It easily passed the MOT, with no advisories and I have the build documentation and manuals.
I have another classic that needs my attention, hence the reluctant sale of the Avion. Please contact me if you have any questions and I'm open to sensible offers. My dad built the car after having many classics and both he and my mum enjoyed their many trips with the Citroen Special Club, including some longer ones into Europe and even the odd use as a wedding car.
I was gifted the car many years ago but kept it at their garage in Bath, as my dad enjoyed looking at it and talking to people about it when he was no longer able to drive it; hence the low mileage between MOTs and some years there being no MOT. I brought it up to Scotland a few year ago and have been enjoying it since
