Description
Sad sale of our 1972 Classic VW Beetle
I’m reluctantly selling my husband's beloved 1972 classic VW Beetle due to his recent death. We’ve had many great memories with this car, and I’m hoping it can find a new owner who will appreciate its charm as much as we did.
This Beetle has been part of our family for 15 years. It was a barn find and has had lots of work done to keep it running, including:
A new engine in about 2014 - I dont know exact dates
A recent respray in 2024
Extensive welding, including floor repairs
A new heated windscreen
Push-button ignition and immobiliser
The car spent six years in storage between 2015 and 2021 while we lived away, and it’s been well cared for since coming back on the road. It’s a 1200cc manual, MOT and tax exempt. While it’s not a show car, it’s solid, quirky, and definitely turns heads when out and about.
Please note, the car has been sitting outside for the last few months and while it starts and runs it may need some attention to get it fully roadworthy.
Feel free to message me if you’d like more information or to arrange a viewing. This car has always been my husband's little run around and project that he could tinker with. He wasn't doing it up to sell or win shows etc. If it broke down he just fixed it on the side of the road. If it broke down while I was driving it, I walked home or awaited rescue! If it needed welding, he welded it. He was an engineer who needed a project and VWs were his hobby!
Its a fun little bug that I am very sad to put up for sale, but its sitting out the front of the house doing nothing and will soon start to seize up.
