Description
Mercedes W124 estate in blue, with additional seat bench in the boot. 13 former owners. No MoT. As a minimum, the car requires attention to the wiring loom as, when I last drove it, there was likely a short circuit, the OVB relay failed and the AA got me home. Upto that point is was providing a pleasant drive.
I purchased the car from a Cheshire classic car auction house 3 years ago, but found myself hardly using it beyond a few drives and to get an annual service and MOT. Prior to it breaking down, I had just fitted 4 new Michelin cross climates which have had only a handful of miles added. I have decided to sell the car to someone who can get invest some time and money to give the car a new lease of life and give enjoyment. Otherwise it is off to the scrappies.
Following my purchase in June 22, I got the car MoT'd in Aug 22 and had the coil pack replaced. The following year in Aug 23, it had a service and MoT and then in Nov 23 it had a new battery and the heater blower was was removed and lubricated to fix it squealing, The water pump was replaced at the same time. In Jan 24 , some welding was carried out to the rear requiring stripping out the interior.
A month later the car broke down. The OVB relay was eventually replaced and the wiring issue then identified. (leading to the MAF sensor but the loom is perishing). Obviously it will need a recovery vehilcle to take it away but the bones are there for it to be brought back to life or provide parts for another car. The car featured in in a Classic Mercedes article in 2021 as it had been owned by Cheshire Classic Benz for 5 years and was in their hands at 162, 000 miles. The article commented it had 24 services up to that point, so it had just a few missing Hopefully someone can come to the rescue and give it some love.
