Hello, dear prospective buyers,
For sale is my freshly restored Austin Healey Sprite MK2 as a Speedwell GT. I have built this car over the past few years with the intention of possibly using it in historic racing events. However, due to its overall condition, the Speedwell is now too precious for that. Unfortunately, I also don't have the time to drive it regularly on the road, so I would like to sell it to an enthusiast or someone who can take it to the racetrack. I would be sad if it sat in my garage and no one saw it, because this car is a truly beautiful example.
Now for the technical features of the car:
Body:
- Sprite MK2 floorpan and metal Sprite MK1 rear end
- Hood and fixed top are made of fiberglass
A special feature of the fixed top is that it has been slightly modified to accommodate Spitfire windshields. These are much more readily available. The door frames are also made of aluminum to provide better guidance for the side windows. The roof features a period-correct ventilation flap.
Technology:
Engine: Oselli 1293 Stage 2 with Weber carburetor, Aldon Red AR100 racing distributor
Engine compartment:
- Aluminum radiator
- Oil cooler
- Electric auxiliary fan

- Maniflow header
- Maniflow exhaust system
Transmission:
- Ford T9 5-speed conversion, matching propshaft and clutch. However, the standard transmission can be reinstalled at any time, as the transmission tunnel and mounting bracket remain original.
Front axle:
- Frontline shock absorber conversion
- Thicker anti-roll bar including adjustable uniball coupling rods
- PU bushings
- EBC disc brake
Disc: slotted and drilled
Pads: EBC green stuff
Rear axle:
- 1/ 4 elliptical
- Frontline shock absorbers
- Panhard rod
- 3. 9 ratio differential
- Steel wheel axle
Interior:
- Completely painted
- Wichers roll bar with side protection
- Sparco bucket seats
- 13" Motolita steering wheel
- Custom-built dashboard covered with matching vinyl
- Modern GPS speedometer and matching tachometer
- Smith oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel gauges in individual instruments
It is also equipped with a larger gas tank (two original tanks stacked on top of each other).
I took the vehicle to the MOT (German Technical Inspection Authority) and it has a H-approval. The MOT can be renewed upon sale.
In addition, the vehicle had a FIA vehicle passport.
Of course, a Classic Data appraisal was also prepared for the Speedwell GT. This indicates that the vehicle is in very good condition and can be valued at €60, 000.
If interested, I would be happy to include spare and original parts for the vehicle. These include:
- Original 1100cc engine tuned; flat-top pistons, 286 camshaft, increased compression, milled-in-block pockets, 12g295 cylinder head
- Original 4-speed gearbox with propshaft
- Original shock absorbers for the front and rear axles (if we can agree on a price, I will include a set of adjustable, FIA-approved shock absorbers)
- Complete original Sprite Mk1 dashboard with gauges and switches
Molds were made for the fixed top, the hood, and the side window frames so that they could be replicated. If you are interested in these, I would be happy to part with them if the price is right.
Of course, the price is negotiable and depends, among other things, on the number of parts included.
I will skillfully ignore inquiries about the final price or unreasonable offers.
The same applies to test-drive tourists, time-wasters, or blabbermouths.
