Honda SL350 K2 restoration project 1971 USA import now with UK reg (on a J Plate) historic vehicle so Tax and MOT exempt, eligible for classic insurance. V5 present and in my name.
The bike runs, revs ticks over, and is easy to start, note - it is kickstart only, this is correct for this model, lovely quiet engine no cam chain rattle or blue smoke. The rare original exhaust silencers are solid , the bike is really quiet through these.
The previous owner has spent some money on new stainless steel wheel rims, stainless spokes and new tyres, a new solid state reg/ rectifier has been fitted along with a new gel battery .
It is missing a few parts, such as the correct battery box, the correct tool box , one side panel and both air filters. Pod filters are currently fitted, it would probably run better with foam filters. It may need larger jets with this set up, but they are easy to change as the float bowls simply unclip. I have ultrasonically cleaned the carbs but a refurb is recommended.
The wiring harness has had a melt down at some point in its history and has been hacked and will need replacing for certain, the cheapest way to do this would be to fit a new CB250/ 350K harness ( 35 quid on ebay), some of the cabling won’t be required but should be easy to adapt. As its basically the same harness with indicator and starter solenoid cabling. The bike also needs an ignition switch as currently has an on/ off switch under the seat. I may have a switch housing, if so it goes with the bike.
I have wired it up so it runs and the lights work, and its charging .
Currently it has British style dip/ horn switch fitted, but I have the correct SL350 horn switch and a CB350 lights/ kill switch that will come with the bike. New after market kill/ light switches without the starter button are available- I can advise if required, The current throttle is Tomaselli Superpratic, but the correct one comes with the bike. The bars aren’t standard, but I can advise on the correct set.
So with a weekend or 3 of fettling you can have a bike for blatting round the lanes this summer, then restore over winter
