Description
The Valiant is a nice-looking motorcycle, its powered by a shaft drive, little OHV flat twin engine with a cowling over the top. It has a full cradle frame with a telescopic front fork, a swingarm with shock absorbers at the rear. Fitted with original two 16mm Amal Monobloc carburettors and rotary disc chokes, 6v electrics, coil and points, 4-speed gearbox and a curb weight of 255 pounds with 3. 5 gallons capacity tank. Engine output is 12 horsepower at 7, 000 rpm, with a top speed of around 70 mph. For a 200 (192cc in actuality), that was decent performance in its day. Only 1, 600 Valiants were ever manufactured by the Velocette Hall Green works. The motorcycle has run faultlessly since my father purchased the bike in 2001 from a private seller in Sutton Coldfield. Starts easily, has a lovely raspy exhaust note, rides and handles extremely well. Excellent example of a Valiant for the period but not concours. The motorcycle logbook shows 4 former keepers, the last addition being the change of name to my mother after my father’s passing. The taxation class is Historic and as such does not require Tax or MOT. As far as I am aware the Valiant is completely original with the exception of the paint. It has obviously been repainted in the past but not during the period my father owned it. Engine number V200/ 2388, Frame number 2093/ 33. It has been fitted with a new 6-volt battery and the petrol tap corks have been replaced.
The Motorcycle comes with MOT certificates from April 1997 through to September 2017, original and copies of the owner’s handbook, workshop manual, parts list. A selection of gaskets, spark plugs, and a new oil filter are also included along with some original Valiant tools kit parts and service tools.
