I have owned this bike for about 6 years and turned it from a standard bike into a one off street scrambler style bike. There are replaced aluminium parts on the bike including a hand made aluminium fuel tank especially made for an sr500 which was made at the Tank Shop in Scotland. It also has chunky scrambler type tyres which work really well on and off road. I havnt used it for 2 years but when I kick started it it fired into life easily. I've always liked the Sr 500 and had a few over the years and xt500s too. They are simple to work on, sound good, reliable, are light and easy to move about. I used it for riding down country lanes in the lake district and it's perfect for that type of riding. As its over 40 years old it's road tax free and no longer requires an MOT and insurance is about £50 , so it's very cheap to run.
