The bike is £9750 (or very near offer) without the major accessories. These are available individually at extra cost (see below for details).
Here we have a beautiful 2014 first series Indian Cheiftain. Badge number 1779 of the limited 1901 production run, finished in original (and no longer available) Indian Red with chrome trim. The very first 1901 Indians produced (a combination of Chief, Chieftain and Vintage models) were specially badge numbered 1-1901 and this bike (number 1779) is 100% original and unmolested.
Only 1901 of the first series bikes were made in 2014 out of approximately 25000 Indian Motorcycles made and sold worldwide. with just a handful of that first series landing in the UK and Europe, they are becoming quite rare - especially in the original Indian Red livery. The Thunderstroke 111 Indian's are powerful, reliable and torquey, with a comfortable, great handling aluminium chassis that keeps the weight nice n low. These are characterful machines that really do justice to the Indian name. They're made in Spirit Lake Iowa USA and the build quality is superb.

The original Indian silencers were removed and boxed from new when the Vance and Hines fishtails were fitted, and will go with the bike. I've owned this bike twice (so i account for two owners). We toured the states on a Chieftain in 2014, and my wife fell in love with its day long comfy rear seat. We'd had Harley Roadkings for many years previously, and as much as i'm a Harley man through and through, finding a bike she was happy to enjoy long days and big miles on was an opportunity not to be missed (happy wife - happy life), so I bought this bike on our return from the states via its first dealer/ owner (MCO Motorcycles). I sold it to a friend in 2019, after deciding I fancied a change (regretted it - the grief from my passenger was relentless lol) and then managed to buy it back last year, so in essence i know all the owners and where its been. Sadly my wife has now decided she no longer wants to tour long distance on motorcycles, and I tend to use the ot bikes from my collection for local rides and events, so the Chieftain is not really getting used (its only done 810 miles since the 2024 MOT, about 100 the year before and this year its likely to be minimal again), which is a shame. A project has become available that i can't really miss, so here's your chance to own one of the original 1901 series bikes.
Condition. Exceptionally good condition, it rides beautifully and you would be hard pushed to find one this nice. These are mechanically mega reliable and I'd happily jump on it and ride across Europe tomorrow if the need arose. Its kept in a warm dry garage on a rug with a battery tender and like all my bikes is well looked after. The bike was last serviced @ Krazy Horse Bury St Eds not long before i bought it back, and the oil/ service sensor on the bike is saying oil life is at 84%, so not due a service for some time yet - although i have factored in the cost of an oil service to the price as i know some folks tend to go by time rather than mileage (modern oils don't degrade like the old mineral stuff did). Tyres are the excellent Avon Cobra Chrome and were replaced not long before i bought it and have probably done about 1000 miles. Its had all the Indian specified updates (can be checked with the VIN on the Indian website). Just sailed through another MoT a couple of weeks back (MOT tester commented on how good it was), so its MoT'd until April 2026. Mileage is just 15165 - which is just 1500 miles a year on average.
Common questions (to save some time):
HPI clear? Absolutely
Why sell? I have a small collection of bikes and a project has become available that i can't really miss and it will need some space before it arrives in a few weeks, so here's your chance to own one of the original 1901 series bikes.
Viewings? Serious viewers very welcome/ encouraged by prior arrangement. No test rides without full payment.
Can i view it virtually? If you are quite a distance away, and would like a video call to view the bike before offering (via whatsapp or whatever), then just ask, as I'm happy to accommodate.
Offers? I've priced the bike at £9995 as it is, which is an absolute bargain based on others for sale. However, i'm open to near offers, so why not give it a try. If your offer is declined, then it’s because it’s not near enough and you'll need to go up a tad. I might come back at you with a counter offer thats nearer to what i will accept.
Whats the lowest I’ll take? There are one or two standard Chieftains available on eBay, but all are higher prices and none are from the first limited run of 1901 bikes. I've set a sensible price and i'm not going to give it away, but if you have a figure in your head that doesn't match mine, try an offer.
Would i consider a PX? I’m not really supposed to be looking for anything just now, as i already have another bike waiting, but i might consider something British, or American (and old - sidecars included) plus cash my way, so send me full details of what you have (make/ model/ year, any history, photos/ video, price). You never know i might be tempted.
Payment? Please make contact on agreement to buy to confirm collection and payment arrangements. I'd like payment via bank transfer and collection within a week. If you need longer for collection, contact me and discuss in advance please.
Can i get a bike transporter to pick it up? Happy for you to arrange a bike delivery/ carrier to pick up on an agreed date/ time, but payment must be in my account before the bike leaves (to be clear - i will not allow loading until i have payment).
European or overseas buyers? You are very welcome, but message to discuss please.
A short video of the bike running and riding can be provided on request via whatsapp.
