Description

The Simca 8 Sport has an aluminium body manufactured by Facel-Metellon. The engine with a displacement of 1221 cm3 delivers 50 hp and takes the car to a speed of 135 km/ h. Our car was restored by the previous owner and is therefore in good driving condition. An identical Simca engine was installed during the restoration, and the original engine in need of repair is included (including two good cylinder heads). Photo documentation of the restoration is available. Battista Pinin Farina, who was still working for his older brother Giovanni Carlo Farina at the Stabilimenti Farina bodywork plant at the time, probably smoothed it out here and there and gave it its final styling and design. So now the original Fiat 1100 S already looked like the Cisitalia 202. Pinin Farina used these sketches, as had happened very often in history, also changing the styling here and there and turning it into the Ferrari 166 Inter, which also became their first Gran Turismo and another Fiat 1100 Cabriolet. When Simca boss Henri Pigozzi visited Stabilimenti Farina, he saw the Fiat 1100 Cabriolet and immediately fell in love with it. Due to its performance for FIAT-SIMCA, FIAT CEO Vittorio Valletta and Gianni Agnelli, who had just become Vice President after the death of his father, decided to present this convertible at the Paris Motor Show in 1948. Perrone drove the prototype to Paris, where he met Pigozzi and they replaced the FIAT logos with the Simca logos in the exhibition halls and then presented it to the public as the Simca 8 Sport (concept car). 5165 units were built in all series (1948-1952)
