Description
1939 Velocette MSS been with two owners in the family for 57 years. It has benefitted from a recently completed cosmetic restoration. Mechanical works undertaken at the same time include new spindles and bushes in the front forks, new wheel bearings, gearbox overhaul with new bearings, rear stand replacement, full rewire and replacement carburettor
It is all correct by way of engine and frame numbers and is registered on the VMCC register.
The bike is authentic in that it is 90% original apart from the headlamp which was replaced 30 years ago and a new exhaust last year as part of the reworks. It has been put together with Middleton Stainless fixings throughout.
It runs and rides as it always did and now looks once again as it should, hopefully for the next 86 years. The bike was rescued in 1968 in a dissembled state having been put off the road in 1952 for a gearbox fault which was never repaired. It was then restored over two years and from 1970 until 1992 it went to shows and often won awards. Since 1992 it has been in regular use and hence required the recent refurbishment.
