Description
For Sale: 1952 MG TD – British Racing Green – Sorted, Reliable & Thoroughly Enjoyable
After 7 happy years of ownership, it’s time to part with my much-loved 1952 MG TD, finished in traditional British Racing Green with re-trimmed tan leather interior and new green carpet.
This car has been enthusiast-owned and sympathetically upgraded to retain its period character while improving reliability and drivability. It’s been used regularly in good weather and always properly maintained.
Highlights:
• Re-trimmed interior: Tan leather seats, new green carpets
• Upgraded electrics: New wiring, fuse box, upgraded ignition system, new distributor
• Rev counter gearing replaced for accurate readings
• New battery and dynamator
• Gearbox fully rebuilt – shifts beautifully
• Cooling system refreshed: new water pump + hoses
• Stainless steel fuel tank – a proper long-term upgrade
• Indicators fitted discreetly for modern road use
• 4 new period-correct tyres, powder-coated wheels
• Almost-new hood, side screens crystal clear (no misting or yellowing)
The Drive:
Starts on the button, pulls eagerly, and corners with confidence. No odd noises, no overheating. A very well-sorted example that’s ready to enjoy.
This isn’t a concours queen, but a well-presented, honest TD that’s been driven, maintained, and improved by an enthusiast. Always garaged, never neglected. This MG TD has been in my care since 2017. I’ve owned (and continue to own) several classic MGs from T-types, Midgets and B’s, and this one has always stood out for its balance of originality, reliability, and sheer driving joy. It’s been properly sorted with long-term ownership in mind, not just a quick flip or cosmetic tidy-up. Lots of history and receipts to complete the package.
