FAMILY EMERGENCY FORCES SALE PRICED TO SELL CAR IS WORTH DOUBLE
With a very heavy heart I’m putting my Mercedes SL 500 R107 1983 for sale.
Unmarked two tone silver and grey.
I’ve owned the car over 6 years.
I purchased from a friend of mine who owned her 5 years too, so in the family over a decade now.
Sadly no history before me as he lost it when moving but mileage can be verified with DVLA.
When I purchased the car it was in immaculate condition but someone had ran a sharp item around the whole car taking it to the metal.
As the car needed a full respray this gave me the opportunity to take the car to bare metal checking there were no hidden surprises.
Fortunately the car was immaculate.
The last pictures are of the car when I purchased it, you can’t see the scratches in the photos but you can see it was a lovely car pre respray.
The Hardtop was also painted at the same time.
The soft top is in beautiful condition as new, the blue cloth is immaculate as garaged almost always.
I had the tired suspension replaced with Bilstein shocks and springs.
New 17” period Penta alloys with new tyres.
I also have the original Mexican hats with great tyres.
Genuine period Mercedes walnut steering wheel and gear shifter to match the factory walnut trim.
Original steering wheel and gearshift present.
Engine runs beautifully, serviced every year in my ownership even though I only use it 1000 miles a year tops.
New Rocker cover gaskets with last service intervals November.
MOT, TAX & ULEZ EXCEMPT.
I still MOT every year to be safe.
JOBS TO COMPLETE BUT NOT ESSENTIAL:
** re trim to drivers seat, see photos.**
** brake discs will need replacing soon, slight tremble sometimes when breaking.
Warped disc suspected.**
** Indicator relay may need replacing as sometimes the indicators stay solid instead of flashing when indicating**
All can be rectified in a day for under £1000, I don’t have the time or energy myself and I can’t justify the car sitting in the barn under used anymore.
Sellers are now demanding up to £100k for mint examples of the 500 SL, mine isn’t far off and nowhere near that price.
If the R107 follows in the steps of its predecessors, then its only going one way now.
