CBR600 1991 road legal/ track bike. Ohlins, Yoshimura.
Something a bit different/ special. Lots of time and money spent on it.
In recent months it’s had a professional repaint in British racing green (not a diy job) the wheels have also been professionally refurbished and painted in bright metallic silver. The majority of the bodywork is the more expensive woven type.
Ohlins rear shock, CBR600 type (not VFR) which has just been rebuilt and serviced by James @ JWR suspension. The front forks are the later type F2/ F3 with adjustable rebound and preload, they have also just been stripped, serviced and rebuilt with new genuine Honda seals and obviously new fork oil. New head bearings and wheel bearings were fitted at the same time. Brand new Bridgestone S21 tyres fitted.
The frame looks to have been professionally painted gloss black at some time, frame number is still present, has number plate and is HPI clear. It had a daytime MOT that expired in December last year. Top yoke and clip ons have been powder coated grey.
The previous owner carried out a big service inc rebuilding the carbs with a new carb kit, rebuilt calipers and brake service, K&N washable filter. I’ve had it out on the road and it performs very well, quick and clean through the revs and gearbox feels good. No smoke or any sign of issues. Shows 30k on the clocks, I don’t know if the engine is standard or tuned but sounds sweet and goes well. I carried out a thorough checkover when I first bought it including a compression test which showed 148-155psi cold across the 4 cylinders which would seem very healthy, I fitted a new set of spark plugs at the same time.
Race rear sets which are currently setup in race shift format. Yoshimura silencer in VGC, downpipes are in good condition and have just had new gaskets and fittings at the cylinder head.
The standard wiring loom is all there, just tucked away and it’s still running a charging system if you wanted to make it a road friendly special, add some lights etc, side stand still fitted.
I don’t know a great deal about the history of the bike, someone has obviously put a lot of time and effort into it previously (as have I) A little bit special with the single sided swing arm and newer VFR rear wheel to run a 180 section tyre. It looks the part and is in far better condition than a lot of the scruffy track bikes out there, it’s obviously not perfect/ concourse but is very smart and presentable as you’ll see in the photos.
I was going to put a set of white Honda decals on it and book some track days but my plans for this year have changed and the likelihood of me using it are now slim. I’ve owned it just over a year and spent a fair bit on it, didn’t plan to sell so my loss is likely someone else's gain. It’d look even better with a nice decal set in either white, silver or yellow to finish it off.
£1950 ono. Sold as seen, I’m not overly fussed if it sells or not. Can potentially re-mot for buyer if required. Located in Aberdeen, delivery possible.
