Description
I purchased this car 26/ 10/ 2024 as a car for going to shows etc. and to be my hobby/ project. My wife and I are in our 70’s both with health problems and my wife decided it would be a good idea to move halfway between both daughters, so “happy wife happy life” I agreed. Having found the “perfect” place we are moving in about four weeks’ time. The place is a new build single story barn conversation but does not have a garage or secure parking as yet. It does have a three-bay cart-lodge circa 1870’s see image, which needs work.
So, my plan is to either sell the car or do a swap/ exchange, cash either way for a classic vehicle that is no longer than four metres max. Ideally Triumph Vitesse, MG 1300 or variants, Citroen GS or whatever.
The Vehicle
1971 Wolseley 18/ 85S with 54, 698 miles on clock, will gain a few more. 5 previous owners. One of only 6 left on the road. Mileage looks to be genuine based on paperwork and online checks. Has the twin carb 1798 engine. Had a full restoration between 2019 to 2024 but unfortunately no paperwork for that. Many new panels, no rust and has been welded in parts and undersealed. I would say it is in very good condition, starts on the button and drives well. Interior also in excellent condition as images show. Since my ownership the servo and disc callipers have been refurbished by Contract Auto Engineering and pads replaced. Full service by me, oil, filters, rad flushed, new hoses, new plugs etc. everything works, no leaks. It has power steering which is very light. New tyres, door rubbers etc. Look at images closely.
The paintwork spraying finish is very good, but it does have some “dust or bits” in the finish. Machine polish would help but I’m not confident enough to do that. The passenger door and boot won’t lock with the key for some reason; all door locks can be locked from inside. Chrome work very good generally, wheel trims have a few marks on, wheels are painted to match car. The “S” side trims are not attached; I prefer them off and was going to put a gold pin stripe on instead and make some magnetic catches to attach strips for shows. I think the strips are stainless and will polish up well, no rust.
Has had an insurance claim, category N no structural damage, made on the 21/ 06/ 2023. I have an online vehicle check available. I think damage was to nearside front lower corner looking closely at lower front valance and front bumper bracket, nothing serious. No sign of damage to chassis parts. Any inspection welcome.
I’m asking for offers in excess of £8, 000. 00 or another vehicle as stated previously for a quick sale, drive it away, will get it MOT ed for a quick deal.
A very rare comfortable car that can keep up with modern traffic. Lots of paper work, manual, handbooks, invoices etc. come with it.
First to see will buy at that price, please no time wasters as I’m trying to pack up my workshop for moving. Any car for swap/ exchange must be in a usable roadworthy condition and would pass an MOT if put in for one. I bought it to use for classic car shows and days out plus as a hobby in my spare time. It is a very comfortable family car and can keep up with modern traffic easily, has plenty of oomph when you need it. The power steering makes it easy to manoeuvre and is very light. It has no rust, no leaks, starts and stops as it it should.
