Description
I have owned the car since 1983, purchasing it from the second owner. Home market car, one of 65 sold in 1961. The vehicle had a significant issue in 1971 when the crankshaft broke, causing the owner to remove the engine. They purchased a new Stanpart crankshaft and bearings, however, they never finished reassembling it.
The body was removed from the chassis and was professionally restored by a local college, repainted in signal red, originally white. After a long hiatus, the car was finally restored to its original condition. It was returned to the road in 2003, though it has only covered 950 miles since then.
The car comes with a 4-speed overdrive gearbox, plus the original 4-speed gearbox. I also have the original steel hardtop, which is currently in primer and will require finishing.
Due to space constraints, the car has been stored at a secure heated storage facility for the last three years. The decision to sell stems from the fact that it’s no longer being used.
