I purchased this car just 4 years ago in Scotland, prior to this, it had been mothballed for 9 years following the passing of its owner, his wife just couldn’t part with it, hence it stood in his garage throughout that time until his wife convinced his nephew to have it re-commissioned and try it out for himself, however it didn’t really suit his lifestyle and so he convinced his aunt to sell it on.
Before purchasing, I insisted on a full service and a new cam belt, It has been serviced 3 times during my ownership, the most recent being in May 2025 when in addition the whole of the underneath was steam cleaned and waxoyled prior to receiving a new MOT - the present mileage is 26, 431.
I also fitted 5 new Continental Contact tyres, the spare has never seen the road
During my ownership it has done just over 3000 miles and in truth I have not used it as much as I would have liked, hence I am selling it on.
In terms of its condition, The bodywork has some minor scratches, but is generally in good order. The interior has some fading but generally good. There's minor rust on two of the wheels, the hood however is only avarage, if I was keeping it I would buy a new one which would cost 1200 -1500 euros. This 2001 4/ 4 benefits from the then newly introduced rack and pinion steering, full aluminium body panels and stainless steel bulkhead all mounted on a galvanised chassis, (the chassis on models prior to 1999 were not galvanised). In addition the length of the doors was increased which greatly improved access and the heater was also improved.
Finished in classic Indigo Blue with beige interior trim, including dashboard, hood, and tonneau cover. The engine is the proven Ford 1. 8 litre Zetec 16 valve twin cam fuel injected unit coupled with a 5 speed ford gearbox.
Additional features include, immobiliser, chrome wire wheels with 2 ear spinner caps. Polished stainless steel bumpers, round mirrors, stainless steel hood “swivel pivots”, (a must for removing and refitting the hood) heated screen, bonnet strap, Leather luggage case, Brookland Windscreens and a Folding Windshield.
The steering wheel is the original leather unit, whereas I was given a wood trim steering wheel with the car, I have never installed it as it would make manoeuvring at low speeds more difficult (it’s a slightly smaller diameter)
