---- now sold! -----
I bought this at the start of last year and really enjoyed getting it to the condition it is now. It had already had several thousand pounds spent on the mechanicals and subframe by a specialist company in the UK. The previous owner kept the Mehari at his second home on Corsica for 20 years. When he sold the home he decided to bring the car to the UK and prepare it for sale. This was in 2023 when he also registered the car with the DVLA and MOTd it. I still have the original french registration papers in case it wants to go back to France. I have since done the following:
- refurbished the carbs
- replaced the tyres with new ones
- replaced the exhaust
- replaced both front wheel bearings
- replace the main lights and indicator lights
- replaced rear body panel with new panel and painted
- all news seats and new covers
- hand painted all of the body panels in a satin green to match the naturally patinated green
- new coir floor mats cut to fit
- engine and gearbox oil changed
I used this as a project to teach my 2 teenage boys about general car mechanics. They absolutely love the car and totally disagree with me selling it but it now feels like a luxury too much unfortunately.
The underside and suspension have all been taken apart, cleaned and painted by the previous owner's specialist garage and is rock solid and clean. Everything works as it should and it runs like a Mehari should. There are many receipts and paperwork documenting all the work carried out in the last 3 years and also all the registration papers.
Bring the South of France to you with this unique car.
Meharis are now valued at over 20K Euros in France and I feel I priced it for hopefully a quick sale and will leave you with plenty of margin to further improve it. All parts including all the body panels are still being made in Cassis France and it is therefore a very easy classic to keep and work on.
