Description

1970 Triumph Herald Vitesse Shooting Brake, 2. 5 litre - It’s a custom build by Chic Doig in Scotland, early 1990's with 2. 5 brand new Stanpart 6 cylinder block with twin SU HS6. Fast road camshaft. All Vitesse running gear and brakes, 4 speed with overdrive transmission, close ratio. Straight through 2" stainless steel exhaust. Full interior is there and complete, just needs stripped out and re-done. A set of new front seats would be good as well! Running on Spax Sports suspension and poly bushed. New Uniroyal tyres all-round. Handles and runs extremely well. It's a very fun car to drive!

The car needs a full respray but its bodywork is sound, just surface rust in places and isopon, all mechanical functions in good order, it passed an MOT 4 years ago, chassis would need painting again and Waxoyl'd, only driven once a week and starts first turn of the key (choke on in cold) :) It has less than 5000 miles on the rebuilt engine. Oil still as new after services... 2 owners, myself and late Father... The interior is complete but currently stripped out. It needs a petrol tank recon. Using a temporary tank for now...

I've a full set of spares for this car, enough to nearly rebuild another one! Doors, windows, misc parts, steering rack, water pump, drive doughnuts you name it... (Too much to list and in storage over 100 miles away). Will be retrived upon sale... It started life as a 1360 Herald estate before being converted by Chic Doig, Classic Sportscars, in Scotland. The 13/ 60 uses the 1600/ mk1 2 litre Vitesse chassis as standard (basically Triumph using up stock as Vitesse sales had greatly reduced by that time) so it is not a particularly complicated conversion.

It is fitted with a 2500 cc triumph engine - the inlet manifold is 2500S. The carburettors are 1;3/ 4 HS6 SU (correct for that engine).

This car is so much fun to drive. It doesn't get the attention it needs hence its 'latino' look!! Sorry Triumph boffins! :)

For someone wanting a serious project car this is the one for you... I'm sorry to have to let her go to be honest. The plate is also worth a bit of money! So you are getting an extra bonus!

'In the pictures the cosmetic aspect does not do it any justice… but. Underneath and running gear the car is tight and solid on poly bushes and spax sports suspension, new uni royal rubber all round. New starter motor last month. Mot’d 3-4 years ago, drove from Hillsborough to Enniskillen no problem 2-3 years ago, (where it is now) gets driven but not enough! Lots of fun and great memories in this car! There would be less than 5000 miles on the engine since being built in the 90’s…'
