Description
Blackjack Zero 2012, £20, 000 or VNO, New MOT
An opportunity to acquire a Blackjack Zero, A two-seater sports
trike, Designed by Richard Oakes of Cornwall and hand-built in West
Wales.
This car is No 14 of 20 built, it was first registered in 2012, it has
lived It’s life in a warm dry garage, covering a mere 4, 856. 5 miles,
on dry sunny days. (Now 5, 035, the weathers been too good to leave it in the garage!) The overall condition of the car is excellent, in
fact at the last MOT the mechanic double checked the
date of registration as he thought the car was brand new, saying that
it does have some small paint chips, from driving on country roads
not that they detract from the look of the car in any way.
On to the technical details:
The Blackjack Zero is a front wheel drive two-seater sports trike
Powered by a Motor Guzzi V11 Sport V twin engine (producing 90 HP
at 7, 800 RPM and 95 Nm (70. 1 lb-ft) of torque at 6, 000 RPM) This
drives the front wheels via a VW Type 1 transaxel 4 speed + revers
gearbox.
carburation is naturaly aspirated via a DCOE 45 twin choke weber
with a K&N air filter, The Digital ignition is a Sachse ZDG3 designed
for Moto Guzzi V twins, The exhaust is all stainless steel.
Front suspension is double wishbone with Avo coilover adjustable
Dampers, the rear is a single sided swing arm with an Avo coilover
adjustable damper, front disc brakes have Hi Spec 4 pot calipers,
the rear is a single pot handbrake caliper, so it has no problem
stopping.
The three wheels are by Team Dynamics 7x17 and are shod in Toyo
Proxes 205/ 40ZR17 84W tyres with plenty of tread on them.
the dashboard layout is my own design on a carbon fiber panel,
Instrumentation is all ETB, there is a 12v outlet for phone charging,
There are storage compartments behind both seats and in the front
scuttle via a access panel in front of the flyscreen, the leather bucket
seats are non standard, I still have the original seats that will come
with the car.
The car also comes with a polycarbonate clip on flyscreen and a
Trickle charger to keep the battery in peak condition for those
Spur of the moment outings.
The MOT has just been renewed so now has a full 12 months as of the 24/ 07/ 25 with no advisories.
Included in the sale is a bespoke trailer, designed by Richard
Oakes, Made in wales and galvanized in Yorkshire, (it’s a long story)
To quote Richard Oakes,
The Blackjack Zero’s Hammerhead layout puts the drive, the power,
and a large proportion of the weight and roll stiffness at the front
where it belongs. It’s no secret that this combination produces the
best drivability in a Trike. It drives with confident stability and few
unwelcome surprises. The result is a ultra compact car that is
instantly responsive, lightly loaded and tremendously quick as it
unlocks the maximum potential of its comparatively modest
power plant.
I have had a lot of enjoyable and exciting drives in this car it never
fails to put a smile on my face, and as the only Amrican owner of
a Zero has Stated “slowing down for corners is optional”
but of course advisable.
There is a large amount of documentation that goes with this car
All the bills for the original kit, engine and gearbox receipts, build
photos, ignition manual and other info relating to the car
Plus all the mot certificates and DVLA registration
Documents and VOSA certification.
If you have any other questions please ask.
