Description
This original Hesketh V1000 is a stunning motorcycle with only 3600 miles on the clock and quite a rare sight now.
The Hesketh V1000 is a 992 cc (60. 5 cu in) OHC V-twin motorcycle with 4 valves per cylinder. Designed and built by Hesketh Motorcycles in Daventry, Northamptonshire.
First registered on the 13th May 1982, this Hesketh V1000 has only had 4 owners from new. The Previous Owner of this Hesketh was a motorcycle museum on the Isle of Man. I have applied for historic status as this motorcycle is road tax exempt under historic class and MOT exempt.
Only 149 V1000 motorcycles were produced before the company was wound up in August 1982 so this makes the Hesketh you see here one of the very last to leave the production line with only 2 more after it.
The Chassis/ Vin number is 247 and the engine number is 167.
When it came into my ownership you could see it had not been used for a long time but it was in great condition all round. I set about recommissioning it to get it up and running and back to show standard.
Work included :
Brake Master Cylinder seals
Clutch piston 'O' rings
Brake caliper pistons and seals, pads
Various carburettor parts.
Set of carburettors, clutch & brakes
Oil and fluids change
Filters
New battery.
Deep clean (2 days work)
The only thing this motorcycle needs now is a new RPM cable.
This Hesketh runs very well indeed and starts on the button. I have been out on it for a few brilliant 30 mile runs without any issues. It handles very smoothly and is very stable on the road. The engine pulls very well and the Hesketh just motors along superbly.
There is a good history file with the Hesketh that includes factory documentation and other Hesketh related documents. There are many receipts for work completed throughout its life and spare sets of keys.
