1984 Defender 110 5 door, now classed as historic, so free road tax, cheap insurance, and all the issues in its previous MOT have been addressed.
This Defender has got a new rear cross member, new galvanised suspension turrets and new front shocks. The fuel tank, sender unit, front discs, pads and the battery are replacements by the previous owner.
Chassis is original, some welding in the past but looks sound.
Overall the body is straight, looks presentable. Inside foot wells look OK, see pictures. Doors all shut easy, lock and fit well, but if you're fussy, the bottoms need repair, as do most Defenders of this age.
Seats are good and clean, driver's seat swab shows small wear, see picture. Head lining good. Gearbox cover worn away on L/ H side, see picture, easy to replace if you can find one. Engine is strong and quiet for a 200tdi, starts instant regardless of time standing. Oil and filter recently changed. Gearbox and running gear, all as should be. However, every now and again, the thrust bearing makes a noise, but a quick touch on the clutch peddle and the noise stops.
As you can see, the body has been lifted and the wheels and tires are not standard (Cooper Discovere A/ T3 tires) £200+ each. They show little wear, have masses of tread, spare not been used.
I'm not a lover of jacked up suspension and big tyres, and would've put it back to standard height, wheels and tyres. But another more suitable L/ R came up, so the 110 is now for sale.
Please, no time-wasters, old defenders and series L/ R's don't drive like a modern L/ R, so don't expect this one to be is any different. It drives OK, but it floats a little, and that's down to the none standard wheels, tyres and being jacked up.
