Description

1971 TR6 PI, has been off the road since 1994.
Before we brought this, it had an extremely extensive ground up restoration, with only the interior not fully completed.
Back on the road in November 2023 at * 69800 miles (since rebuild it’s only done 1181 to-date). Current mileage * 70981
The engine has had a full strip clean & overhaul and including: new double valve springs and shaft, Piper high torque cam & followers, new rings, new modified pinned thrust washer, new oil pump, new timing gears & chain, new bearings, new water pump, new coolant hoses, new clutch & Injection pump serviced and injection system modifications.
Transmission overhauled with J type overdrive and a 3. 45 ratio diff installed.
Sandblasted wheels & chassis, welded and coated chassis, new Suspension & mounting bushes (some Polybush I believe), ball joints, rack, pipes, hoses master & slave cylinders, brakes, exhaust & 5 new tyres.
Body rebuild with genuine or heritage panels, full painted & body sealed on any non-visible areas, sound deadening, wiring loom, lights . . . . you get the idea, the folder of receipts is a good inch thick.
It also comes with installed Mohair soft top (black), hard top (Orange), new Mohair tonneau cover (Black) & (what is believed to be the original and by the looks of it unused) PVC stowed hood cover (white) Chrome boot rack (hard top & boot rack never fitted, only laid in place for photos), the old seats, original distributor/ coil, original oil filter housing & some other spare parts.
Since our ownership it has had electronic ignition, replacement oil filter housing & thermostat housing machined (weeping). Then every body cavity & chassis was wax oiled to within an inch of it's life. The interior has now been retrimmed, carpets, door trims etc, including new walnut dash & fully re-upholstered replacement MX5 (for comfort) seats with matching orange stitching, exterior black body details & matching black steering wheel & discreet android stereo navigation.

This car was built to stun & I will try not to wax lyrical about this car, but at the end of the day it pulls people to it like honey to a bee (sorry I said I was not going to do that) simply it’s look say it all, you cannot miss it, the sound even at idle with that piper cam pulls the ear toward it & as soon as you see it you cannot help but look at it. Put it in a row of TR6’s and this is the one you are going to look at.
Driving along you see people stare out of their box on wheels at you as you pass, smile on your face and the throb of the exhaust in your ears.

I have memories of going to school sitting on the rear lid of a TR6 with my cousin beside me and other siblings in the car (those were the days when no one cared about safety), I remember the other kids and parents turning to look as they caught the sound in their ear and the sight of the TR6 pulling up outside the school gates. . . . . .
It’s known history is jumbled, sold from new it was blue delivered to Ireland, it came back to the UK 3 years later, and at some point it was painted red.
Taken off the road in 1994, a restoration was started by several owners but never completed it was finally extensively rebuilt from chassis up with the last owners & back on the road in November 2023.
So why sell it? this is what beats me up as I truly love the TR6.
I am into motorsport & the intention was to use it in classic events, but it’s just to bloody good!!!
I use my cars & as much as I love driving it, I just cannot bring myself to use it for what I want to do with it & ultimately I brought another car to do that with.
In short it’s just not getting the use and display this car deserves, it needs to be seen, craved after shown off and used & I am just not able to offer it these things, if it were a pet it would be at the door whining to go out!
I want it to go to someone who takes it out lets it be seen and admired.
