Description

1998 E39 540i Touring 4. 4l Pre Vanos

MOT until May 2026

142700 Miles, raising slightly as being enjoyed and driven while I have it!

Recently resprayed in M5 Anthracite Metallic. The car was originally glacier green, with the engine bay remaining this colour.

I purchased this as a project in August and in my ownership, it's had the following:

- Full respray (excluding engine bay)
- New air con condenser
- New Engine oil cooler
- New tailgate switch
- New tailgate gas struts
- New ignition switch
- New fuel tank straps
- New front drop links
- New front left caliper
- New rear calipers, discs and pads
- New bonnet release cables
- HSD coilovers (second hand but excellent condition)
- New rear level sensors
- New rear adjustable links
- New battery
- Reconditioned alternator
- New coolant level sensor
- New thermostat
- New lambda sensors
- New MAF
- Facelift Headlights
- Genuine staggered M Parallel wheels
- Set of 4 matching Uniroyal Rainsport 5 Tyres
- Service including engine oil and filter, spark plugs, gearbox and power steering fluid, coolant and air filter

All receipts for this included.

Previous to my ownership, any rust had been sorted professionally, with new sills, underside wire wheeled and undersealed.

The car drives very well, is smooth through all the gears and is a car I’ve really enjoyed driving. Unfortunately I just can’t justify keeping as I’m now after another Hilux Surf.

Points to note:

- The windscreen has had a chip repair, which can still be seen, but repaired so is solid.
- Slight tear on the base of the drivers seat, on the seam
- Half the instrument cluster pixels are dead. Doesn’t affect anything, just hard to read at times
- Height level sensor on dash. Both height level sensors have been replaced and levels are fine, just the error displays
- Squeaking coming from one of the rear passenger side bushes. Rides well, just a little noisy. Believed to be a lower suspension arm bush
