Description
Range Rover 4. 4 V8 with the BMW M62 engine.
Tonga green, Sand leather, dark wood trim, clear glass.
I bought this in 2023 with a view to it being a useable and fun rolling refurbishment project/ family runaround.
In my ownership it's had the following parts & work carried out:
New expansion tank and cap
New radiator
New water pump
New thermostat
New viscous coupling
New drive belts
New transmission cooler
New air intake hose seals
New valve cover gaskets and bolts
Various O-rings and gaskets
It has also had fabricated replacement sills and rear jacking points, to original factory design, not a made-up patch-over.
After that was done, it was MOT’d in January 2025 and I collected it to return home and then fit the new front brakes, interior light kit, replacement passenger wing mirror and other odds and ends.
I put a new transmission filter and gasket on the 'box with fresh and correct ATF, and also a new input speed sensor.
Unfortunately, it still comes up with a fault and without owning proper diagnostic tools myself, I have reluctantly decided to stop pouring money in to it (which currently stands at around £6k), and pour it in to one of my other long overdue projects.
This is an early L322 in green with the BMW V8, a bit of dream and the one to have in my eyes, it was worth getting stuck in and fixing.
It’s a really fantastic car with low-ish mileage, low owners and in a condition where the typically finicky systems work, including the air conditioning. The air suspension is good. The welding has been done, there is no rust on the tailgate, the interior is in great order apart from a missing rear parcel shelf, there are no pixelated areas on the dash display, the old-school info screen works etc.
I also have a few other items that are yet to be fitted such as a rear wiper motor, complete rear brakes and hand brake shoes, replacement hedgehog resistor etc.
It also has a complete set of spare wheels, so in total the car comes with 9 wheels and tyres in various states of wear.
It does not come with the private plate shown in the photos, instead it has reverted to FX54VMD which you can use to look up the MOT history.
This is obviously a trailer-away situation, but it does start and drive on private land if you want to come and see it, albeit with a transmission fault and possible engine issue (although it is currently running well).
Serious and genuine buyers only.
Groups viewings are an absolute no-no.
I’d be delighted if it went off to a good new home, but if it ends up staying then so be it. Maybe one day it’ll be worth something as there can't be too many early examples left, and this one is worth saving. Strong service history, mixture of LR and Independent and previous bills.
