ALFA ROMEO GIULIETTA for FIA Turismo Competizione 1956
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta being presented, chassis #04247, was conceived in the summer of 1956 as the first-series Giulietta, sold in Padua to a doctor. In 1963 it arrived in Bologna where it would change its registration plates for the last time. In 2001 it came into the hands of driver Sergio Lazzari, from Rome, who prepared it for FIA competition. During that time the original engine was replaced with a more powerful Giulietta TI engine, sourced from a 3rd-series 1960 model. TI is the expression of the family-friendly sports car. Strongly advocated by Giuseppe Luraghi, then President of Alfa Romeo, the TI was successfully used in rallies as well as hill climbs and endurance races. The “TI” version, acronym for “Turismo Internazionale”, identified the model equipped with the most powerful engine of the Sprint, the coupe that at the Mille Miglia of ’56 had humiliated the fearsome Porsche 356. In essence, the Giulietta TI was the object of desire for a large part of the Italian public. In 2005 the CSAI passport was issued. With this configuration, it raced until autumn 2014, while the FIA-CSAI passport was renewed in 2008. In the meantime it was deregistered for export and since then has only competed in track events. A car ready for those who want to enjoy track days or closed-road events, it retains its aggressive allure that all Alfa Romeo enthusiasts know.
A fun car to drive on track, very gritty and satisfying
