Description

I bought the car early 2020 and then spent 4 years and over £10k rebuilding the car. this car is a very early heritage shell car built very well around 1990. The car had a magazine article written about its rebuild in 1991, as seen in the photo I have a copy of the magazine. From what I can gather the car was used to around 2000 and then put into storage until I bought it in 2020.

The car had a rusty bonnet and a small patch of rust on both lower rear wings in front of the rear wheel. There was no structural rust on the car at all and the sills, floors and castle rails etc. are all in perfect condition. I stripped the car to a rolling shell, purchased a new bonnet and had the rear lower quarters professionally cut out and replaced. We checked the sills behind the wings when they were cut out and again they were in perfect condition. The car was then fully resprayed (except engine bay area as this cleaned up well) in its original Tartan red.

When the car returned from the paint shop I fully rebuilt the front suspension and complete braking system, fitted a complete new windscreen and reconditioned frame and all new rubber seals. Doors were rebuilt with new seals including the quarterlights. New carpets and boot carpet set were fitted and the original seats re fitted. To be honest the seats are the only part that I'm not happy with, the passenger seat has a small hole in it on the base and they just don't look as good as the rest of the car.

New stainless steel bumpers and over riders were fitted as new chrome ones weren't available at that time, but at least these wont rust!

Engine was treated to a new distributor, new hoses, plugs, coil and oil cooler. Gearbox and clutch haven't been touched but are working perfectly including the overdrive. A new set of chrome wire wheels and tyres were added last year to complete the rebuild.

The soft top is the original one that came with the car and is in good condition. There is a tonneau cover with the car but it doesn't have the headrest bumps in it so I just use it to cover the area behind the seats.

I do have a hard top for it but its not the best and I don't have the brackets to bolt it down, it can go with the car if wanted.

I also have a set of Minilite type alloys with knock on centres that will go with the car, the tyres are old but the wheels may be useful to put on during winter storage etc.

The car is obviously MOT and Tax Exempt but I have just had the car MOT'd for peace of mind.

I have just had the car fully checked over and serviced by a local Classic Car and MG specialist, which included engine oil and filter change, new spark plugs, new propshaft, carburettors refurbished and balanced, all brakes and wheel bearings checked and adjusted where necessary. I have the bill for all the work which was completed early July this year. As a result the car runs and drives beautifully.

The mileage showing in the car is 19887 which I assume is the miles since it was rebuilt into the heritage shell, I have no record of any mileage prior to this.

Car can be viewed and collected from Crymych, West Wales. I have lots off paperwork from its original heritage shell build including the magazine article written about it.
