Description
An exceptionally rare example of British motoring heritage — this Vanden Plas Princess DS7 Mk4 is one of only 200 ever produced, coach-built by hand at the prestigious Vanden Plas works in Kingsbury, London.
This particular vehicle has been family owned for approximately 42 years, a true testament to its cherished history. It has been taken off the road and dry stored for the past 28 years, preserving its integrity and offering an excellent base for recommissioning or sympathetic restoration.
The engine turns over ok and has compression on all cylinders.
With its elegant craftsmanship, coach-built bodywork, and luxurious appointments, the DS7 Mk4 embodies the finest of post-war British luxury. As one of the rarest Vanden Plas models ever made, it represents a rare opportunity to own something a bit different.
The vehicle has had a light restoration in the mid 1980's and had a replacement engine & manual gearbox fitted as the original engine was beyond economical repair.
It was driven for many years since the replacement engine in the 80's and 90's. The vehicle is simple to maintain as it is based on the Austin Sheerline / Princess chassis and running gear and there for most mechanical parts are not to difficult to source.
Would make an ideal wedding car or something a bit different to the usual to take to shows.
A genuine and seldom-seen piece of motoring history — not to be missed.
Any inspection welcome. (We also have an inspection pit if you wish to view the condition underneath).
The vehicle is being sold for recommissioning and as its not been on the road for 28 years. We bought the Vanden Plas Princess DS7 Mk4 because it represents something truly special — not just a car, but a piece of British motoring craftsmanship at its finest. What really drew us to it was how rare and unique it is. With only 200 ever built, all coach-built by hand at the Vanden Plas works in Kingsbury, London, this isn’t just a car you stumble upon — it’s a car you go looking for, or are lucky enough to find once in a lifetime. Often mistakenly identified as a Rolls Royce or a Bentley.
What makes the DS7 Mk4 stand out is the level of attention to detail and luxury that went into it. It wasn’t mass-produced — each example was carefully constructed to a very high standard, with deep leather interiors, real wood veneers, and the kind of bespoke craftsmanship you usually only find in marques like Rolls-Royce or Bentley. Yet it retains a distinctly understated, dignified British character.
What we love most about it is the sense of occasion every time you sit in it. The smell of the leather, the warmth of the wood, the smoothness of the ride.
It takes you back to a time when cars were built to be experienced, not just driven. There’s something incredibly rewarding about owning a vehicle with such heritage and character, especially one that’s becoming harder and harder to find and not that many people know what it is.
The vehicle attended many shows in the 80's/ 90's all over the country and now needs a new owner.
