1938 Lanchester 14/ 6 Roadrider 'doctors coupe' by Charlesworth. One of two made and the only known survivor. 1800 in-line six cylinder and 'pre-select' gearbox.£80K+ restoration/ rebuild in 2011-13 and now nicely 'patinated'. 63, 000 miles believed genuine with huge history file to support. Everything is working. Purchased as a 'daily driver' and used as such, I'd have no hesitation driving her anywhere - she'll cruise happily at 50mph. Though after a couple of recent 'near misses' with idiot drivers, I'm starting to wonder whether I really should be using a unique vehicle in this way. I'd hate for her to be written off because I took her for the 'weekly shop'!
She's no 'trailer queen' and not concours. There's some paint touch ups and the rear bumper would benefit from replating, for example. However, she's an honest, sound and eminently usable piece of history. I guarantee that you won't see another!
