Owner’s Message
I’m selling my 1964 Austin Healey Sprite, which I've owned since the late 1980s/ early 1990s. Having relocated permanently to France, I am unable to return to handle the sale myself, so my friend has posted this ad and is managing it on my behalf. But I’m very happy to speak with you via phone or video call to answer any questions you may have.
Current Condition
What’s Good:
- Genuine 1964 Mk III with matching numbers
- Complete car, including soft top
- Classic Old English White paintwork with red interior
- Original steel wheels
- Engine bay complete with all original components
- Original 1098cc engine producing 59 bhp
- Solid foundation for restoration
- Soft top
- Luggage rack included
What Needs Attention:
- Full mechanical recommissioning after 15 years in storage
- Paintwork restoration throughout (visible surface corrosion and weathering)
- Interior refurbishment required
- General restoration to return to roadworthy condition
- Some chrome work may be beneficial
Important. Please read carefully: Documentation Notice
Unfortunately, all paperwork, including the V5C logbook and all keys (ignition, doors, boot), were lost in a fire when I relocated to France. The car is therefore sold without documentation or keys. The new owner will need to apply for a replacement V5C using DVLA form V62. This is apparently quite straightforward and takes 2-3 weeks and costs £25.
What’s Included
- Complete Austin Healey Sprite Mk III
- Soft top and frame
- Boot-mounted luggage rack
- Everything visible in the photographs
Pricing
Based on my research of similar restoration projects, I am pricing this at £2, 000 to reflect both the car’s genuine potential and the current circumstances, including missing documentation and keys.
Viewing Arrangements
The car is currently garaged in Dalston, London, where potential buyers are welcome to view it, by appointment.
Please contact my friend who posted this ad and is handling the sale.
In the event of successfully purchasing the vehicle, it will require transportation by trailer/ low-loader as it is not currently roadworthy.
Contact and Purchase Process
While my friend is handling the sale for me, I’m very happy to speak directly with any buyers via phone or video call if you have any questions.
Payment via bank transfer. Once the funds are cleared, you’ll be welcome to collect the car.
Ideal For
- Austin Healey enthusiasts seeking an authentic restoration project
- Classic car restorers who appreciate genuine, unmodified examples
- Someone wanting a rewarding British sports car project with real history
- Collectors seeking a proper Mk III with provenance
Please Note:
This car is sold as a restoration project requiring DVLA paperwork replacement.
