Description
Model History:
Introduced in May 1961, the MKIl version of Austin Healey's Sprite superseded the earlier Frogeye model, the MKII had a much more modern appearance with a more traditional and functional bonnet plus an opening boot. It boasted an increase in power courtesy of improved carburetion and close ratio gearbox. Reputedly capable of 85mph, the lightweight two-seater was a fun little sports car at an affordable price.
This car:
First registered on the 30th of May 1962 under registration number 82 TKR. Chassis number HAN6/ 19527, 948cc engine number 9CG-DA-H29406.
There is no early history until the car underwent a full restoration between 2008/ 2009.
During the restoration, the paintwork including the underside were attended to and still looks smart. The interior was treated to new black upholstery, piped in red with black carpets. The hood and side screens were also renewed, along with new elliptic rear springs and halogen headlights.
This lovely little Sprite starts and drives beautifully and has had four previous keepers.
