Description

Royal Enfield Crusader Sports GT specification

In the mid 60’s the customisation of British bikes into Cafe Racers was in full swing.
The Royal Enfield 250 lent itself to such improvements culminating in the production of the Continental GT 250.

Although there were some slight engine modifications, the construction was basically the same with the changes being mainly cosmetic.

I have owned this beautiful bike for 15 years and it has been a cherished part of my collection. However I am now downsizing therefore it needs a new caring owner.

From the standard Crusader Sports it has had a total ground up rebuild comprising of the following:
1. Total engine rebuilt to full Continental GT specifications. This consisted of a rebore, new piston, all new bearings, new valves and valve guides. The barrel has been powder coated, the engine cases polished and a new carburettor fitted.

2. The gearbox has been rebuilt with a 4 speed cluster as they have proved more reliable than the 5 speed.

3. The frame has been powder coated and a very attractive custom made battery box fitted. All to the highest standard.

4. I have replaced the GRP petrol tank with a British hand made alloy GT tank fitted with a Monza cap.

5. The seat, mudguards and number plate have all been replaced with new items to reflect the full GT specifications and all painted in GT colours

6. The wheels were professionally rebuilt with flanged alloy rims and polished stainless steel spokes, together with new bearing and hubs.

7. It has an extremely efficient and fantastic looking, twin leading front brake. The rear drum was skimmed and all new shoes fitted.

8. Stainless steel fixings have been used throughout, including custom made engine bolts and dural alloy engine plates.

9. It is fitted with colour coordinated stainless steel mudguards and the polished GT instrument yolk with clip ons and new levers. ( I have the single housing if required) A new number plate housing has also been fitted.

10. The exhaust system was replaced with the full GT system.

11. The wiring system was completely replaced with superior connectors and fitted with an electronic regulator. (This excellent work was undertaken by a very professional auto electrician)

12. I have also put a new battery on this week.

13. The front forks were rebuilt with progressive springs and the rear suspension fitted with Hagen shock absorbers.

I have the bills for the parts replaced which in total amounts to over 3000 pounds in parts alone.

It is a beautiful bike with a good power range, yet quite light to handle and manoeuvre.

If you are looking for a bike of this style you would not be disappointed with this .

3950. 00I bought one of these when I was 16. I thought they looked fantastic then and I haven’t changed my opinion. I have loved having this bike for the past 15 years during which time it has been used very sparingly. However, I am reducing my collection and this is the next one to go.
Delivery may be possible within reason.
