Description
Uncle Alf’s old bike, which I have maintained in the same state that it was in when Alf rode it. Reliable, but not fast, averages about 45 mph on the open road. Used in the Levis Cup Trial for some years and averaged 24 mph resulting in class wins. Also used in the Felix Burke when not riding a veteran. Also used for riding in Ariel Motorcycle club events.
Reason for selling: Maybe it is too heavy for me when loading/ unloading into my van for riding in distant events?
A recent bad experience, prompted by the effort to put a motorcycle onto its rear stand, has suggested to me that I ought to diminish the size of the machines in my stable, because the pain caused by a torn hamstring is something I do not want to go through again!
I am happy to discuss this machine and will listen to reasonable offers, if you think the price is too high, we can haggle, within reason. I have also reduced the price by the amount it would cost you to have the bike collected from me and delivered to you and can supply you with details of the guy who couriers for me.
Re-listed due to non-payment by a time-waster, and other time wasters wanting a genuine bike at hardly any cost! I have added images of the engine number, frame number, gearbox number and the speedometer and ammeter.
The bike can be collected from Marlborough, Wiltshire by arrangement. Designed by Valentine Page and became a favourite for despatch riders who also used the W/ NG in locally organised trials. Maybe that is why there are relatively few of these machines around? The Ariel is a reliable starter, runner and is economical. I do not ride to show but use it for timed road trials, road safety events and organised rides.
