Description
1981 BMW R45 650CC 'Airhead' in 'Cobalt Blue'.
Previous owner upgraded to 650CC pistons and heads with an upgraded cam. Providing good acceleration and torque at low revs.
During my ownership I have carried out a full restoration including but not limited to:
Engine - Full reseal, new exhaust valves, new rings, new bearings, new timing chain. (Nikasil linings in excellent condition).
Gearbox - Full reseal. (Previous owner fitted upgraded gear selector). Clutch replaced.
Final Drive - Full reseal.
Suspension - Front fork full reseal, rear shock absorbers replaced.
Brakes - Front discs and pads replaced, calipers resealed, rear shoes replaced.
Wheels - Stripped, primed and painted in 2K 'Silver Grey'. Wheel bearings replaced. Tyres and inner tubes replaced.
Fuel - Tank replaced, primed and painted in 2K 'Cobalt Blue'. Petcock resealed, fuel lines replaced, carbs rebuilt and set.
Electrics - Wiring loom overhauled, spark plugs replaced, all filaments replaced.
Bodywork - Frame shot blasted, primed and painted in 2k Satin Black. Tank, mudguards and side panels primed and painted in 2K 'Cobalt Blue'.
Cables - All control cables replaced.
Exhaust - Mufflers polished, cross pipes replaced.
Service items - All fluids and filters replaced.
Much more work done with receipts for all parts fitted. I have tried to keep as many original parts as possible but anything that is 'single use' or showing wear has been replaced.
1000 miles ridden since restoration. Will be serviced for new owner.
Several boxes of spare parts from previous owner included in sale.
'Historic Vehicle' so tax and MOT exempt.
Reason for sale - new child!
