Description
1980 Honda CB250N Superdream. Fixed price £1850, NO offers. If its still showing then it’s still for sale so don’t ask. It is advertised elsewhere so could be deleted at any moment.
Hugely popular in the late 70’s early 80’s these were one of the most popular bikes of the time. With the 2 different engine sizes and all the model variants around 70, 000 were imported into the U. K.
Now according to DVLA, at the end of 2024 there are only 24 still licenced and 44 SORN of the 250N, so now getting VERY rare and collectable.
This bike had been off the road since 2005 when I bought it in April this year.
The man I bought it from had done lots of work on it and fitted loads of new parts. It was in pretty fair mechanical condition but he just ran out of steam on it.
Cosmetically it wasn’t pretty, the paint was poor and faded, some rusting on the chrome, both tyres old & perished, brakes poor, worn rear sprocket & chain, rubbers perished, stuck cables, fuel tank & carbs manky and all the other things you get with any machine that has just sat around for years.
After a LOT of work, new tyres, tubes, new brakes, various pipes, cables, shocks, complete exhaust with collector box, tank and carbs cleaned, total frame, panel strip down and professional repaint, in a well regarded paint shop, that specializes in Historic & classic vehicles. Now with new decals it looks a treat & is ready to go. It is in ride away condition. I have also identified the original key numbers and had a 2nd complete set made.
It isn’t quite concourse, but in VERY good condition, I am sure some anorak could pick a few holes in it & it could be further improved with very little effort or money. For example, the pillion grab rail is painted Black, the chrome underneath is pitted, could be replaced for about £40. But it’s an attractive and very useable bike as it is.
I have done about 50 miles on it, just to check its all running and riding well. Ridden it to a couple of local meets where it attracted quite a lot of attention. Mileage now 34700.
I do like the bike, but as I’m getting on a bit, it’s a little bit too heavy for me. (about 175kg in running order). I have 2 other smaller lighter bikes and this one just isn’t getting used enough, so it ought to go to a new owner who can use & appreciate it.
I’m not desperate to sell, it isn’t eating anything and as time passes, they get even more rare, especially in this condition. It is stored, covered, in a shed and I will take it out once in a while to keep it all sweet and exercised, so once again I am NOT interested in offers, any offer messages won’t even be answered.
It’s registered with DVLA in my name as an Historic vehicle, so exempt Tax & MOT.
2 sets of keys,
V5 in my name.
Box of serviceable parts that have been removed and replaced along with a well-thumbed Haynes Manual, an Oxford Disc lock with 3 keys & a pot of touch up paint.
No holds, 1st to come with the money takes it. No test rides unless the money is in my hand 1st. (you break it you bought it) Cash or UK bank transfer only. No PayPal, Bitcoin, couriers, relatives or other malarky. I’m old enough to spot a scammer or timewaster from miles off so don’t bother.
Located in South Witham 10 Miles south of Grantham, just off the A1.
