Description
It’s with a heavy heart that I’m looking to sell my lovely Suzuki GP125.
I have owned it for over 3 years now. It’s in great condition and has done around 21, 729 miles. Sadly, the reason for selling is that I have moved, and it’s stored over with my parents, so I rarely got the chance to ride it.
It’s not long turned 40, so is now tax and MOT exempt. However, it sailed through MOTs previously and has been cared for very well between them, including being run up regularly whilst stored, along with keeping the battery on a maintenance charger.
It has been fitted with a Powerdynamo electronic ignition system, as the CDI unit was malfunctioning and I struggled to find a working replacement.
For around £240, the new electronic system wasn’t cheap, but it has made it more efficient and easier to maintain (no points gapping!).
Part of fitting the new electronic ignition meant converting from 6v to 12v, which has been done (including lights).
Apart from the above, according to the previous owner, it has had an upsized piston in its life, taking it to 0. 5. There’s no paper proof of this, but the previous owner told me so.
I gave the carb a full going over as part of changing to the new ignition system, so it runs very well and starts nicely with very little choke, even after being sat for a while.
It’s extremely nice to ride, is great on fuel (and 2 stroke oil!) and has never wanted for much at all.
As you can tell, I don’t really want to be selling it, but I can’t get the use out of it, and I’d love it to go to someone who can take it on trips and to shows like I intended to.
It’s located near Faringdon, Oxfordshire at my parents’ and the V5 is present in my name along with a load of different parts (fork oil and new seals, gaskets, carb parts, electronic bits, manuals, etc.). I think the majority of the original ignition components are there if you wanted to convert it back.
Please do get in touch if you think it could be for you, and I’m happy to give viewings or get some more pictures/ videos for anyone who is interested.
Feel free to contact me with any questions or to arrange a viewing. It's been very well looked after, has been dry stored, and the paintwork and mechanicals are in great order.
It rides smoothly and changes gears easily. Though I've only taken it around local back roads and to village shows, I'd imagine it would be capable on A roads, should you wish to do a longer journey.
It's learner legal, is both tax and MOT exempt, and is very frugal on fuel and 2 stroke oil. With insurance being remarkably cheap, even for a new rider, it makes this bike very cost effective. Additionally, I'd imagine it will only appreciate in value should someone wish to add this to a collection.
It gets lots of looks and questions when at shows, and thanks to the 12v electronic ignition upgrade, is very easy to maintain.
