Description
We are only the second owners of this car, and it has been our family car for 15 years, and we're finally selling it because we have moved to an EV. In this time it has been a great car to own and drive and we'll be sorry to see it go.
Most cars in this age bracket have been neglected, but this one has been well maintained throughout its life.
It has always been serviced annually, originally by a garage and over the past few years by me. As well as standard service items, this has included:
- twice yearly full brake fluid and gear oil changes.
- 2025: four new tyres, timing belt, and auxilliary belt, plus engine mount
- 2023: full new rear axle assembly (beam, stub axles, bearings, ABS sensors, plus brake shields)
- 2022: new lower front wishbones plus brake shields. New PCV valve.
- 2020: New brake callipers and pads all round, plus new front discs.
This is one of the very few Golf Mk4s which is ULEZ compliant (it has the BCB engine code which meets Euro 4 standard for petrol).
The bodywork is in generally very good condition top and bottom and the usual weak points of these cars (the wheel arches) are all rust free.
The negatives that I am aware of:
- small dent in the front drivers side wing.
- small scuff on the rear passenger side bumper.
- we have never used the air conditioning on this car. Literally the first time I ever tried it was last week. Mechanically it seemed to work (the engine revs increased and the cooling fan came on half speed), but I'm pretty sure the refrigerant will have evaporated, so no cooling effect.
I've got roof bars and a roof box from the car which are for sale separately if required. This is a well looked after car in a great colour, and is a guaranteed future classic.
