Description
FEBRUARY 1980 BMW R100S 14823 miles from new (23855. kms). This R100s is the "Full Fat" model with 40mm Bing CARBS & 40mm Exhausts & the larger diameter Valves.
This has been a "Nut & Bolt" Ground up restoration
This R100S is a One Owner from new bike that I bought from South Africa, it had sat at the back of the previous owners Garage for a long time & the dust and grime had taken its toll on the bodywork.
The complete bike was stripped bare, the Engine, Gearbox & Bevel drive were taken to ROGER BENNETT ENGINEERING to be inspected & rebuilt.
Upon stripping the Engine Roger said he had never seen one as in good condition internally everything was like new inside and as per original Factory tolerances; that applied to both the Gearbox & the Bevel drive!
Gearbox was fully rebuilt by Roger Bennett Engineering with all 6 bearings replaced & correctly shimmed
New Clutch with Diaphragm spring installed.
Frame, Sub Frame & Swinging Arm PRIMED & Powder coated in Satin Black
Carbs (40mm) have been Vapour Blasted & rebuilt with all new Gaskets & 'O" rings & Diaphragms installed. Cab tops have been professionally polished.
All new cables, & all fluids/ Filters changed
Gearbox Splines & drive splines lubricated (Starbuag) New Gearbox Gaiter with Stainless clips fitted , Drive Shaft bolts replaced & torqued to specification
Frame, Sub Frame & Swinging Arm PRIMED & Powder coated in Satin Black
Calipers have been "Ceracoated" in Silver then fully rebuilt, new seals pads & "O" rings
Master Cylinder has also been "Ceracoted" & been rebuilt
Brake discs have been vapour blasted they do not have any grooving & are well within Factory specification
Original BMW 'S' Cockpit Fairing fitted with fully functioning "Motometer" Analogue clock & Voltmeter. New screen fitted with correct trim.
Wiring Harness is in perfect condition it has not been molested & is as per the Wiring diagram for this particular year.
Forks have been totally rebuilt with Sliders Vapour blasted, Fork Stanchions examined for straightness then have been Hard Chrome plated then ground back to original new fork oil seals new Damper rod piston rings & complimented by a pair of original BMW Fork boots.
Lower Yoke has been professionally polished, new upper & lower steering head bearings installed.
A pair of Original &. UNIQUE BMW R90S Handlebar clamps adorn the top yoke.
Bosch Contact points Ignition.
Timing has been Stroboscopically checked Carbs have been Synchronised and adjusted accordingly with my Vacuum Gauges.
Breakwell & Green" Stainless Silencers & Header pipes"
New 300CCA XR600 Battery
A4 Box File of receipts for work completed & parts ( in excess of 10k)
Bevel drive fully rebuilt by Roger Bennett
freshly powder coated springs)) KONI "Dial-a-Ride" Shocks
All fastenings stainless steel and hand polished to remove raised lettering
Paintwork by "J & S Racepaint" in BMW Smoke Red
Petrol Tank was free of dents & has never been filled, Petrol Taps have also been completely rebuilt and new correct diameter fuel pipe connected. New Air Filter installed.
New seat with the correct Seat plaque R100S is fitted, with the correct storage box in the Tail Tidy, & the original First Aid kit is also present
Engine covers Inner & Outer timing & Alternator covers, Starter motor cover & Air Box have all been Vapour blasted and are consistent with the same finish as the Crankcases.
Starter motor overhauled working perfectly, Alternator Stator fitted with New Brushed and cleaned. Rotor commutator cleaned and polished, Charging system working perfectly
