Description
1927 Austin Seven 'Top Hat' Saloon
This is a lovely example of a delightful little car known as the 'Austin 7 Top Hat' due to its increased roof height enabling the driver to get in and out without removing his Top Hat!. There were apparantly only 2, 100 of these made.
The car is in excellent condition throughout and was used on a regular basis up until a few years ago when Ill health prevented it. The car has been owned by its present owner since 2009. It was aquired from an Englishman who had moved to France and taken the car with him. A full top to bottom restoration was carried out by the previous owner and almost completed. The restoration was finished once the car had been repatriated to England by the present owner. The paint work has begun to crack in a few places which is the only negative aspect of this car.
There is lots of paperwork to accompany the car including correspondence with the previous owner and there are lots of spare parts too. Included within the paperwork for this car are the original old style log book; hand written correspondence between the previous and current keeper which led to the purchase of the car and a four part restoration diary of the previous keeper as he kept members of the Essex Austin 7 club updated on restoration progress. Several pictures are also included capturing the restoration as it progressed.
