For sale my much-loved Mercedes R129, SL320 that I have cherished since 2019. Over this time it has never missed a beat, has sailed through every MOT (with the last testing house telling me it was so clean underneath they would eat their dinner off it). It has been lavished with attention and has wanted for nothing during my ownership.
It has been serviced throughout its life by Mercedes specialists, with 11 stamps in the book, and during my ownership has always received annual servicing, fluid & filter changes. Any work has been done with a preventative approach in mind using only MB OEM parts (when still available), and high-quality alternatives when not (Bilstein, etc). Work of note during my time has been as follows:
• Freshly rebuilt rear suspension and bushes
• Recently changed front pads and discs
• New Engine & Gearbox mounts
• New water pump, idler wheels and belts
• Replacement of the often rusting through gearbox sump plate (a significant issue for R129s)
• Fully refurbished diamond cut original factory alloys (not just powder coated)
• Factory correct ContiSport tyres fitted all round in 2023
I have also attended to small details that are generally missed on these cars:
• Installation of brand new MB OEM bonnet insulation pad
• Throttle pedal backdated to original design to resolve the jerky movement that later models all suffer from.
• New A/ C motor clamp to remove the background squeaking sound that most R129s now have (and is not attended to because access to the clamp is labor intensive)
• Changing of fuel tank hoses, pump, mounts and filters to remove the background aged related vibrational noise that R129’s tend to now have when driving.
• Removal and polishing of centre binnacle wood veneer
• Changing of all internal lights (including the difficult to access ashtray light)
• HVAC head unit refurbished to ensure a fully readable display (that most examples no longer have)
• Cassette holder swapped out for MB OEM storage bin (perfect for holding coffee cups)
• Powder coated exhaust tip to match OEM finish (additional Chrome tip also included in sale)
If I was keeping it there are a few stitches to add back to the rear window on the soft top (see photos) with the selling price adjusted accordingly.
I have included photos of all significant servicing bills during my ownership for your review, but if there is something outside of that which you would specifically like to check on, please feel free to ask.
Selling due to purchase of another modern classic and I’m on a strict one-in-on-out policy.
