Description
1997 Kawasaki ZZR600-E5 -- 25900 miles, currently Sorned, and V5 in my name.
Barn-find (kinda!). I've owned this bike since May 2008, but in 2016 (after 25+ years of motorcycling) my interest swayed to kitcars and trucks, and the bike has not been ridden since. It's last MOT was 2016, and it was regularly started and run around the block until 2022. However, it has remained dry-stored in my garage under a dust cover for as long as I've owned it. I may not have ridden it for a fair while, but I have always cherished it and it is in very nice condition for it's age. It is the 28th bike I've owned, but now someone else needs to use and enjoy it.
When the bike was in regular use, it was taken all over the Scottish Highlands and Islands, and down to Wales and London, more often than not two-up with luggage. The ZZR600 is renowned as a super comfy, very capable mile-muncher, and in it's day unbeatable top speed and horsepower for a 600 (150mph and 100hp). They also have a relatively low seat height for a big-looking mid-size bike.
Extras added have been a rear wheel hugger, front fender extender, tinted bubble screen, stainless downpipes, heated grips (untested lately), rear seat anti-slip cover, Clear Alternatives clear brake and indicator lenses, and HEL braided brake lines front and rear. The bike has been Datatag'd.
Not long before it was parked up, it had silicone radiator hoses fitted, and a new chain and sprockets. A couple of years before that it got new front brake rotors, front calipers and pads, and rear pads. When it was in use, it was regularly maintained, serviced and kept spotless after each ride. It has one ignition key, the owners manual, the toolkit under the seat, and if I can find it, there is a Haynes workshop manual.
The bike will need some recommissioning - no doubt the carbs and tank will need at least flushing, and a new battery. The tyres are age-hard and starting to crack, and fork seals starting to weep.
The bike is selling in 'as-is' condition, therefore no warranty or guarantee is expressed or implied, and no returns offered. The bike has no MOT and is Sorned, so the buyer will need to take it away by van, trailer etc. The bike is in Hamilton, near Glasgow.
