Description
1984 XLS 1000 Ironhead Sportster Roadster.
I bought this with the intention of building a chop but when it arrived I was shocked, as it was so super clean, no sign of rust anywhere the motor is so clean you can eat your dinner off of it. Needless to say I did not have the heart to chop her and with so little miles (12, 900). I plonked in a new battery, new plugs and a bit of fresh petrol and she fired up straight away. Goes through the gears and no signs of dripping oil whatsoever. A true survivor of the 80's. Foot pegs look like they have never had any feet on them ! Frame is almost perfect, just a few minor scratches on the powder coat.
Totally original apart from having no indicators, different handlebar grips and having an aftermarket exhaust (bigger slip-ons )
According to Sportsterpedia only 1, 135 1984 XLS 1000 models were produced and this one has low miles (12, 900)
V5 in my name, MOT & Tax free, Historic vehicle class so cheap insurance!I bought this with the intention of building a chop but when it arrived I was shocked, as it was so super clean, no sign of rust anywhere the motor is so clean you can eat your dinner off of it. Needless to say I did not have the heart to chop her and with so little miles (12, 900). I am the second owner, first owner was the import company.
By the looks and the condition of this bike I feel that it has only had one owner previously in the USA.
What sets the XLS off most is the paint and trim, the bodywork gets black and deep metallic charcoal paint, there’s hand painted striping for the tank, the H-D logo on the gas tank is in gold.
Will swop for a Harley chop or decent project.
