Here’s my Rover Mini Sprite, with the lively 1275cc HIF38 carb engine (49bhp). The engine is completely stock, but it’s got a manifold-back stainless steel exhaust that gives a lovely classic Mini burble.
I’ve had it since April 2021, and it’s only ever been used on dry days during spring and summer. Always garaged and looked after properly.
Cosmetically and more importantly, structurally, it’s in great shape all round – the original shell is solid with no welding needed, and the sub frames are in excellent condition. In 2023, the front end was professionally resprayed, keeping it looking fresh.
Mechanically it’s sound. It’s had a recent service and coolant flush, plus four new front ball joints.
Oil, Filter and Air Filter changes have been done regularly along with Grease Points:

• 2022 @ 51, 700 miles
• 2023 @ 51, 950 miles
• 2024 @ 52, 734 miles
• 2025 @ 53, 639 miles
Up front there’s a 7. 5-inch disc brake conversion, so it can run 10-inch wheels. It sits on original Dunlop D1 alloys with Yokohama A-008 tyres, plus a 3. 5x10 spare. I’ll also include the original 8. 4-inch discs and calipers if you ever want to go back to standard brakes.
Inside it’s fitted with a full Cobra LeMans cream leather interior and a walnut dashboard with an oil pressure gauge, a working clock, and an amp meter (not wired in). I’ll also provide the original plastic binnacles, in case you prefer the factory setup.
Other nice touches are stainless steel bumpers and P700 TriStar headlamps.
It’s a tidy, genuine Mini, only driven in good weather, sounds great, and is ready to enjoy straight away.
This is a reluctant sale — it’s a cracking little car that’s been a joy to own. When I bought it, I never planned on selling, but I just don’t have the space for it anymore.
