Description
MG Midget Mk1
Lovely BRG on wire wheels
Sprite mk1 type dash with pull start / simple windscreen / side screens and no door handles - really period.
Good interior/ hood/ tonneau/ sidescreens
Solid structure and clean underside
Clean and tidy engine bay and boot
Recent wire wheel conversion / petrol tank
Older restoration. Huge file of history, photos and records from previous owners.
I'll send more detailed photos of under side and photos of history if you are interested
The downsides
Paintwork on the boot is dull from over polishing.
Rear seams need refinishing
I am tall (6'3') so I have removed the drivers seat and fitted a stripped down back and seat pad. I'll refit the original seat pad and back (all upholstered in matching vinyl to the passenger side in black with white piping. ) I have the car booked in for a pre-MOT check and service so that both should be all done before completion of a sale.
Boot carpet and tonneau and sticks - original type jack all with the car
Use it as it is or repaint the rear and do some fettling and it will be worth top money. This is the rare mk1 midget - frogeye at the core i. e. same dash profile, no door handles and side screen - so full of character - it’s just got a boot that you can open and wings. Having no door handles is actually really secure as people can't work out how to get in!
This car was produced alongside the mk2 AH sprite to similar design and specification but with MG grille and more chromework. All in all the best Midget model IMHO. I have owned many classics and this is the most fun I have had driving one .. it’s so simple and has loads of character! Puts a smile on your face when you drive it (and of all those people who let you out at junctions!)
Lots of history photos of resto(s) MOTs etc
