Description
Earlier this year the car went to our local Vauxhall main dealer as they found out there was oil in the coolant when they did the M. O. T in late 2024. They said it required a new cam belt cover gasket. They were told to proceed with the repair. Whilst the engine was stripped down they advised that it might be a good idea to replace the cam belt, so this was agreed. After the work was carried out the car was collected and after a few days the oil warning light came on. This had never happened before. So the car went back to them as they said it was probably a faulty sensor. They replaced the sensor but the oil light problem persisted. They then suggested it could be an oil pump issue so they were told to replace the oil pump. The oil light light still came on. They then tried various other things like new seals and gaskets, checking the big end bearings etc etc. The light continued to come on. The whole affair was a complete "nightmare" which resulted in me collecting the car with an oil warning light issue. The car runs ok but has just been M. O. T'D and has failed, so now it has to go. The M. O. T. failure details can be checked on the DVLA site. This car was purchased by my daughter in 2009 and was about 18 months old. Engine wise the car has a genuine mileage of 50616. Despite the oil warning light issue it has a new cambelt and oil pump and various new seals and gaskets. I have all the details of the repair work.
