A ready-to-enjoy, show-quality Westfalia — perfect for collectors or enthusiasts seeking one of the best examples of the classic bay-window camper. If you’ve been searching for a genuine, beautifully restored UK-supplied Westfalia, this is the one that will make you stop scrolling. This van captures everything people love about classic VW campers – the shape, the sound, the smell of the flat-four engine – but with the reliability, comfort and finish of a modern build. It draws smiles everywhere it goes and never fails to start a conversation.
Why I Bought It
I’ve owned this Westfalia since 2007 because I wanted a camper that was truly authentic – not an import, not a patchwork of repairs, but a proper UK RHD van that could be enjoyed and cherished for decades. When the time came to restore it, I decided to do it once and do it properly: a full bare-metal rebuild by Johnson Autoworks, bespoke interior by Richard Booth Design, and upholstery by Kens Customs. The aim was to make it the best it could possibly be, and I think we achieved that.
What Makes It Unique
There are plenty of nice campers out there, but very few built to this standard. Everything was stripped, repaired, and refinished with care and precision – it’s solid, clean and genuinely ready to use. The reconditioned 1600cc twin-port engine has only covered about 6, 000 miles and runs perfectly. Every detail, from the paintwork to the period-style trim, was chosen to stay faithful to the original Westfalia spirit while offering a touch of luxury.
My Favourite Thing
Without question – the way it makes people feel. Driving along the coast, waving to other campers, kids pointing and smiling – it’s impossible not to grin. It’s not just a vehicle; it’s an experience. Whether you’re taking it to a show, a weekend escape or just out for ice cream, it turns every trip into a small adventure.
