Description
After 10 years of ownership and grand touring through continental Europe and the UK, the time has come for me to sell my Jensen Interceptor.
SPECIFICATIONS
It’s an early RHD Jensen Interceptor II first registered in May 1970 in the UK and imported to the Netherlands in 1984.
Finished in a desirable color combination of cassis with black leather interior.
Under the bonnet is a 6. 3-litre ‘big-block’ Chrysler V8, which sends around 330hp to the rear wheels through a three-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission.
One of just 1. 128 Interceptor II models ever produced.
Offered with Jensen Motors Statement of Origin certificate, Dutch registration documents, original workshop manual and history file.
The car is located in the Netherlands within a 30-45 minutes’ drive from the ferries from Newcastle and Hull.
OVERALL CONDITION
The Jensen is in a very good drivers condition. It has been restored in the past and repainted in a color that matches the original cassis closely. The bodywork is still holding up nicely.
Overall the car strikes a nice balance. As much of the original condition and patina is maintained without over-restoring certain parts.
The chassis is solid with no structural rust or damage to the sills.
MECHANICAL
The car drives remarkably smooth with perfect balance between comfort and muscle power.
It benefits from a mechanical restoration carried out in the late 10’s with lots of components replaced by renowned Jensen specialists.
The following work has been carried out:
• Edelbrock manifold and carburetor fitted
• High torque starting motor and alternator fitted
• Electronic ignition fitted
• Steering rack rebuild
• Gearbox rebuild
• Stainless steel fuel tank fitted
• LSD rear axle rebuild
• New leaf springs with coil overs fitted
• Stainless steel exhaust fitted
• New hoses, brake lines and ball joints fitted
It rides on 15-inch five-spoke GKN alloys, fitted with a good set of white wall tires (2017). A set of the original chrome Rostyle 6J rims are available at an additional charge.
Air-condition is fitted but not working. A hinge from the bonnet recently broke needs to be replaced. The Jensen was little used over the last few years, but sits in heated garage and it is taken out on a regular basis.
INTERIOR
Very original black leather interior with nice patina. The structure of the front seats have been renewed keeping the original leather. The driver’s seat has a small tear in the leather though.
Electrical windows are fully functional. The original Jensen 8-track player, the clock and some gauges on the dashboard are not working properly.
BODYWORK
The bodywork looks good as it is, but there is room for improvement. There are a few small dents and scratches in the paintwork and there is a small blemish on the right rear wing. Nothing serious though. The chrome has some pitting, but still looks quite good. These are minor optical flaws considering the fact that sills and chassis are solid.
With a few finishing touches the Jensen is ready to be enjoyed again! Please contact me for further information.
