This 1958 FBW bus has been used for passenger transport since 2016, including weddings and festive events like family days. The classic car has been in the possession of its current owner since 2007, who has fully restored the vehicle and fitted it with a new interior. Previously, the bus was located in Groningen and used as a service bus.
The bus originally came from Switzerland, where it served as a postal bus in the mountains. The steering wheel is on the right, which at the time improved the driver's visibility when driving along the steep mountainsides. Besides transporting mail, the bus also provided seats for locals, allowing them to travel to town or village. During the winter months, the bus, equipped with a snow plow, was even used to clear snow from the mountain roads.
The bus is in excellent condition, both technically and visually. Since it has been modified and approved for passenger transport, it undergoes an annual roadworthiness inspection (APK) at the RDW (Netherlands Vehicle Authority). A fresh new paint scheme was chosen during the restoration. This vintage bus has a good paint job!
There are few of this type of bus around these days, so the FBW always attracts a lot of attention. The engine runs smoothly and starts immediately. This classic car is equipped with a semi-automatic transmission with high and low ranges, which makes driving considerably easier than a bus with a double-clutch transmission. Although the bus has a top speed of 84 km/ h, it easily keeps up with traffic.
