Under the bonnet sits the sensational 3. 5 litre M88 engine derived from the M1 coupe, featuring a 24V head and race style intake with six separate throttle bodies. Coupled to a Gertrag 280 5-speed gearbox and 25 percent limited slip differential, capable of 0-100 KM/ h in 6. 2 seconds and a top speed of 246 KM/ h.
Presented here is a collector-quality example in Delphin Grey with a full extended highline Nappa leather interior. One of 96 hand assembled in Rosslyn South Africa from CKD kits and body shipped from Germany. This particular M5 was sold as a special order to Japan in 1987, before finding its way to New Zealand in 2001.

In Australia since 2012, the car has benefited from regular mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment by several owners in New Zealand and Australia. Comprehensive documentation and stamped service booklet covering all works undertaken since 2001 will come with the vehicle.
Refurbishment and maintenance work undertaken over the past year has included:

With estimates of less than 100 examples of the RHD E28 M5 remaining roadworthy today, this is a great example of a turnkey classic with loads of character and deep refinement.
The paintwork retains a deep lustre reflecting the great care lavished on the car by each of its owners. The Nappa leather interior has also been well cared for, showing a patina of great character and high quality.
This E28 M5 is now for sale in Melbourne, Australia. Apart from a very small spot at the base of the LH rear passenger door (which is stable and appears to have been previously treated), the body appears to be corrosion free.
Comes with two keys, period correct BMW Service booklet current from 2002 and a ring binder documenting vehicle history and maintenance back to 2001.
