Description
For sale is my Mk1b MR2 – AW11, It’s a Feb 1990 so likely one of the last registered.
Its in great condition and benefits from a number of enhancements fitted over the years. The car was restored a few years ago, with all the details in an extremely comprehensive file of maintenance along with other details and invoices. Since buying the car from a close friend (due to the excellent condition of the car) I’ve enjoyed fault free miles, as have the previous owners. I know the car has been garaged during its last three ownerships at a minimum and prior to that it was owned by a MR2 MK1 club member. Its comes with 7 months MOT, I am selling due to relocating up north and won’t have the space to keep the car.
The car itself drives excellently, the engine revs strong and cleanly, gear box feels sharp and its handles very well. Notable enhancements include a modified 5th gear with a long final drive for better cruising and to avoid 5th gear pop out, genuine Toyota leather seats (Celica 190) and 16” OZ racing alloys which improve handling and allow for the fitment of larger ST165 brakes. It comes with a high quality breathable car cover suitable.
Key points/ maintenance
2015 – restoration works inc new wings, new front crash bar, new radiator, head lamps, professional waxoil, front windscreen
Fitment of ST165 twin pot callipers and discs, mk3 rear callipers, 1” dia master brake cylinder, stainless Magnex exhaust, cam belt,
2016- 2019 – braided brake lines, sleepy eye modification battery isolation switch, leather celica seats, new KYB shocks, + annual servicing (oil/ coolant/ fluids, air filter), Rocker cover gasket, inner sill professionally replaced.
2019 – 2024 – Various maintenance (inc Cam belt), new Pirelli tyres, Sill repair (inner & outer), professional detail, new battery.
Points to note
Lower front valance – This was professionally repainted in the original Toyota white following having a scuff on the lower edge repaired in 2023 (reversed off steep driveway), however the colour match to the rest of the car isn’t great and this valance would benefit from a colour matched respray.
Gemini alarm system – was becoming temperamental so it has been disabled. It doesn’t interfere with the car in anyway and can be reconnected simply if required, however I would recommend investigation to remove possibility of errant alarms.
Overall, this is a great opportunity to buy a useable iconic modern classic which drives fantastically with 7 months MOT. I have some spares available which I am also selling (i. e. spare set of t-bar glass & OEM seals).
