Description
1989 Sierra XR4x4 2. 9i. This is the preferred pre-cat model fitted with the stronger MT-75 gearbox. Finished in Ford radiant red and fitted with the 7-spoke RS style wheels, the car is in standard unmolested condition, with the exception of an aftermarket stereo.
In good all round condition, one of the arches is showing minor rust as well as minor rust on the inside and outside of the doors. These are not big gaping holes, just defects that can be easily addressed now. The paintwork is ok considering its colour, however the bonnet has suffered some issues. At some point the car was stored for a while inside a working garage, and it's thought that there was a spillage damaging the surface paintwork in spots. noting has gone through tp the metal and I have touched up some of the blemishes.
The interior is in very good conditioon, with no wear on the seats, especially the drivers bolster. They also retain their padding, firmness and comfort. The dashtop is in excellent condition with no cracks. Everything works, including the heated windscreen! The display does show the boot in open though all the time. Carpets are dry and in good condition as is the headlining. The sunroof tilts and slides as it should, and all 4 electric windows open and close correctly, although a couple are a little slow due to age a lack of use and probably needing a regrease. The central locking works on all doors too.
Having recently passed it's MOT, it only needed a CV boot and was fitted with 4 brand new matching tyres prior to replace the older mis-matched ones. I have to say, I suspect the sills have been attended to or replaced at some point, it's an 80's Ford.......... The car starts on the button, and the engine performs as expected with no smoke or hesitation. It drives and brakes correctly, the suspension is tight with no knocking or rattles. The gearbox is still tight with no rumblings from either it or the driveline.
Unfortunately there is no service history with the car. One key and the V5 is present and in my name. I'm only selling this, the second of my "classics", as I'm chasing a Rover P6B-S, and want funds in place for the if and when it comes up (I've been assured of first refusal if it does, due to my interest in it). The Sierra is kept at a friends unit, and as I work shifts, a little bit of understanding and pre-planning would be needed for a viewing. Feel free to ask any questions which I'll answer the best I can. Due to my shift work I may not be able to answer any calls immediately, so please leave a message with a convenient time to call you back.
